E-Learning Courses Using Articulate Rise

Rise is part of the e-learning software Articulate 360 and provides a more creatively rigid but easy-to-use solution to develop courses, which has been useful for projects when I’m working in close collaboration with clients and the subject matter experts. It includes a feature for sharing and commenting on prototypes, and can even be extended by integrating content developed in its more robust sister program, Storyline.

I first used to Rise to design the online educational guide for the awardwinning film, Indian Horse. (The published course was then integrated into a custom built php-based platform linked to sales of the film’s educational license on Hello Cool World’s WooCommerce-based webstore.)

Bevel Up: Digital Curriculum for Harm Reduction & Nursing

I returned to Rise for the relaunch of another film, Bevel Up, featuring outreach nurses delivering care in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. I worked closely with two of the former nurses and now educators to help shape their content and hopefully help bring the breadth of their lifesaving experience to new nursing students. (I also created a WordPress website for the campaign with access to the course linked to user registration.)

Mental Health Course For Youth, By Youth

In 2022, the Crisis Centre of BC developed MindFlip: Brain Science Tools for Everyday Living, a youth-focused online course to support mental health and offered as a free resource to schools. Much of the content was developed as a video series and Rise again proved an effective solution to bundle it with other interactive features into an LMS-friendly format that is also responsive to devices used by both teachers and youth.
